Finding Agency in Uncertain Times: A reflection on power, presence, and participation

Purpose rarely grows in places of comfort. Purpose lives where your heart breaks — where something in you refuses to look away.

What breaks your heart reveals what you’re here to mend.
What enrages you reveals what you’re here to protect.
What moves you reveals what you’re here to contribute.

If we want to build a future that is more just, more beautiful, more humane, and more alive — we have to be willing to feel the world as it is, not just as we wish it would be.

Ask yourself:

What breaks my heart open?
What do I care about so much that I can’t bear to be numb to it?
What suffering feels personal to me, even when it isn’t mine?
Where am I being called to help, heal, support, protect, inspire, or transform?

This is where purpose begins — not in perfection, but in tenderness. Not in certainty, but in care. Not in control, but in devotion.

When you honor what breaks your heart, you learn what you’re here to repair.
